Create More Wow With Less

How do you elevate a room with less into something extraordinary?

Here are some of our minimalist tips to help you simplify and decorate with style:

  1. Start with a good de-clutter, ALWAYS - minimize and only keep functional and meaningful things. A shift to less can be a powerful thing. It gives you a sense of satisfaction, order, and purpose. Once you’ve narrowed things down, the things you truly love can shine. No distractions or clutter, just the few items that bring meaning to you.

  2. Go for neutral palettes - Neutral colours are an excellent canvas! It’s perfect for creating a quiet backdrop that lets the things you love really stand out. Depending on how you want the room to feel, cooler neutrals will have more calming effects, and warmer neutrals will feel cozier and inviting.

3. Add textures - To up the wow factor, add lots of textures to bring your canvas to life. Think textured cotton linens, chairs with caned backs, warm wood tones and perhaps brass accents. All of a sudden your space comes to life. Keep in mind that you’ll want to keep the look simple to allow things that bring you joy to shine. Limit the amount of pattern and resist the urge to add too much accessories. The goal is to limit distraction so you can appreciate the beauty and serenity of the space, and the things you love. As the Kon Mari saying goes, if it doesn’t bring you joy, it doesn’t belong!

4. Use your passions to inspire the room – a favorite art piece, a rug purchased from your travels, a hobby, or an antique item passed on from a loved one could be sources of inspiration. This is what truly ups the ‘wow’ factor and makes the look unique to YOU.

Here’s a minimalist home that wow’s with personality. The backdrop is definitely minimal;

  • Clean lines, white walls and large windows create a feeling of elegant simplicity and openness.

  • Minimal quality furniture pieces speak to a timeless look that will last and evolve seamlessly with the homeowner’s lifestyle.

The WOW? The piece that takes center stage? Without question, the cello that boldly stands on its own as a sculptural piece of art, instantly tells a story. Rooms that make you want to know more and see more will always be a winner in my books!

Extraordinary designs speak to the soul of the people living in the home.

When we create a quiet backdrop that allows our passions and joys to take center stage, we feel good to be in that space. Every day. All the time. No distractions to take away from things that make us happy. No clutter to feel stressed out about. Personal treasures will always stir up emotions unlike anything else bought from a store.

As everyone and their stories are unique, a look inspired by story will always have a different look and feel.

The beauty in minimal interiors lies in simplicity and the gems that tell a story. All creatively styled to make someone stop and slow down; to look, ask, and touch. It makes them want to stay a little to find out more. That’s what homes should be - about YOU.
